About Nexus Security Firm
This site is how Nexus Security Firm takes on security work across Orlando and Central Florida.
Nexus Security Firm is a licensed Florida security agency that has been protecting property and people in this state for more than 15 years. Every assignment booked through Security Services Orlando is carried out by Nexus Security Firm officers, under Florida security agency license B 1900066.
Who runs it
The firm is led by James Franklin, who spent over 14 years as a law enforcement officer and supervisor before moving into private security. That background shows up in how the business is run more than in how it is marketed. Post orders get written properly, officers are told plainly what they can and cannot lawfully do, and the standard is that if something happened on a shift there is a written record of it.
The firm also holds instructor credentials that most security agencies do not, including Glock Red Dot Instructor certification, Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers training, National Rifle Association credentials and Centrifuge Training LLC certification. Those matter because the firm trains its own armed officers rather than accepting a certificate at face value.
How we work
Three things drive most of what clients notice. The first is continuity. Security guard turnover across the industry reached 77% in 2024 according to ASIS International, and it is the reason so many properties get a different stranger every few weeks. We price posts so officers stay on them and build a small named roster per account, relief included.
The second is documentation. A shift that produced no written record is a shift nobody can account for, and clients discover this at exactly the wrong moment, when an insurer asks or a tenant complains or a pattern needs proving to police. Every post produces a report.
The third is being straight about what security can do. Officers in Florida hold no police powers. They observe, report, control access, ask people to leave and call law enforcement. Any company suggesting their officers will physically remove or detain people is selling a liability, and it will land on the property owner as readily as on them.
What we will tell you that others might not
We publish our rate bands, which almost nobody in this market does. We will tell you when mobile patrol would serve you better than the staffed post you asked about, when unarmed coverage would do the job you were quoted armed coverage for, and when the honest answer is that better lighting would help you more than an officer would.
We will also tell you when a rate you have been quoted elsewhere looks too low to be sustainable. A useful industry benchmark puts officer pay at around 70% of the bill rate, with roughly another 10% going to uniforms, equipment, training, background checks and supervision. When a bid comes in materially under the market, the officer wage is the only variable large enough to have been cut, and the consequences arrive as turnover and unfilled shifts.
